Final Project: A space for self
In project 1, we were allowed to express oneself through their creative means; Project 2 is meant to prepare us to be aware on the relationship between user and space, emphasizing on the physical and non-physical requirements; Project 3 on the other hand incorporates both the creativity and its functionality; identity of user, comfortability of user and creativity in articulating the space, as a complete user experience.
For the final project, we are required to design a space for the self by attaching it to the walls/surfaces of an imagined gap in an empty space between two rock cliffs. The space is to fit a specific use (as a dream space: for viewing, space for contemplating, space for self- exploration, space for exercising, space for dreaming, space for showcasing a particular activity, etc).

Final project will be in 3 stages, Task 1- is narrative writing wherein it can be based on the persona, life scenario, story and journey of the user from where or which the theme of the hideout will be extracted. Task 2- is about exploring how to organize the 2-3 spaces which encompasses design principles in spatial relationships and organization. Task 3-In addition to generating and exploring ideas and concept from the narrative and spatial exploration, we will also explore the notions and experiential effects of materials and the senses in the final design

Reveal & Conceal
The concept of my model is designed based on learning to reveal myself to the others. I have a very private personality as I don't share my inner thoughts with anyone other than myself, as I have trust issues with others. Although I tend to keep things to myself, I learned that opening up to someone can be crucial in communicating with others in this field. Thus, I need to learn to engage with others, but at the meantime, conceal myself from all the activities happening around me in a private space. this model served as a gallery to showcase my architecture works to the others (reveal), while there is a studio for me to work on my projects (conceal).

The gallery is only accessible to people I know, which will only be led by me. As mentioned above I have trust issues with others, so this building is considered a private retreat for me to bring people in from the outside, people that I trust. The private space is built below the gallery.
Final Model (1:50)

Light & Shadow played the main role in this building. Light can give a powerful form to a building's interior as it is the giver of presence. I used natural light to guide the visitors through my gallery, to tell stories and the journey throughout my career. I have designed a series of openings, increasing in sizes, from dynamism to consistent cuttings, to represent the transition of me trying to open up to people I trust. While the conceal space below is designed with minimum openings, to show the level of darkness within the space. The private space can be shown through darkness instead of visually hiding it.

For materials, I wanted to use concrete for the main material of the building, as it can produce a cooling environment for the users. It can also be used to portray a cold & stark but serenity space when concrete is shined by the natural light. My working space (studio) is mainly built with translucent glass because it can allow natural light to penetrate and gives privacy to me at the same time.
