ASSIGNMENT 2 -

GEOMETRIC PATTERN & TEXTURE ARTWORK

INTRODUCTION

For this project, we have to create a geometric pattern using the same understanding based on the last assignment. These patterns have to represent the pattern of a music. This project is a group work, consist of 3 members. Each groups are assigned with a song, my group's got assigned with No Money, by Galantis.

We have finalize our design with the motif above. The keyword that we're focusing on out artwork is "Aggressive", because the chosen part of our music is mostly filled with sharp beats. As a result, the motif shapes like an arrow which shows direction & movement of the beat, the hollow center is the beat.

We start translating the motif into three dimensional form. Once we've done it, we started arranging the motifs into different styles and patterns. We're trying to play with the arrangement, until we found a suitable placement that can best express our music.

FINAL OUTCOME

Final arrangement is the combination of 180° rotation and half drop repeat

The 2nd panel is installed with 2 colour. We chose yellow as our base colour, because yellow represents joy and excitement, which technically has the same meaning as the rhythm of the music

The 3rd panel is installed with 3 different colour. Based on the colour theory, we used the Split-Complementary colour scheme to apply to the artwork. This colour scheme shows contrast and movement to the texture pattern

From this project, I enjoyed the process where we translate the music into a geometric artwork, because we have to use our senses to feel the music and create something out of nothing. I also learned that the arrangement of patterns can create different feelings and meanings from the song,

For this project we have to improve on our workmanship, as the patterns did not arranged orderly and they are not well-placed.
